Become a Match Official

20 Nov 2021

There are many reasons to take up match officiating; remaining involved in the sport after playing, choosing to enhance your knowledge of the laws, or progressing through the career pathway to achieve your goal in officiating.

No matter what the reason, officiating is a rewarding, exciting, and enjoyable way to stay involved in rugby.

But don’t just take our word for it – hear from some current and newly qualified referees on why you should get involved in our video below.

How do I get involved?

We have a number of Introduction Match Officiating courses coming up before the end of the year across Scotland which you can book onto and take part in for FREE. Find out more about the courses and the Match Official Pathway here.

It’s really easy to get involved and register for one our courses:

1. Sign-up to SCRUMS as a match official and complete the FREE online RugbyRight course.

2. Sign up for a FREE match official qualification near you by visiting SCRUMS and click ‘browse courses’.

You can also sign up to the Online Training Hub (powered by Hive) for resources, videos, and downloads – the training hub key (required to create an account) is SRUTH1872.
