Scottish Rugby is saddened to learn of the death last month of its former General Committee member, Charlie Bisset. He was 78.
Bisset (Heriot’s) was elected as an Edinburgh District representative on Scottish Rugby’s general committee in September 1991.
A former college lecturer and head of department at Moray House PE College at Cramond, Bisset was a mainstay at lock of the Heriot’s pack in the 1960s and was also a notable swimmer and climber in his youth.
In rugby, he won district honours for Edinburgh, Glasgow and North & Midlands and among his roles in Scottish Rugby, he acted as tournament manager for the inaugural Rugby World Cup Sevens, staged at Murrayfield in the spring of 1993.
Outwith rugby, he served as a Labour councillor in Edinburgh.
In 1998, Bisset resigned from Scottish Rugby’s general committee and retired to Newtonmore.
Scottish Rugby extends its sincere condolences to Charlie Bisset’s family and friends.
