CLUB XV | Squad announced for Scotland Club XV

17 Dec 2018

The Scotland Club XV squad has been announced ahead of their two fixtures against Ireland in 2019, as they bid to retain the Dalriada Cup.

The team will come together for the first time under the experienced Melrose Head Coach Rob Chrystie as they prepare for their first game against Ireland at Myreside on 1 February.

Selection for the Club XV is drawn from players who play for Tennent’s Premiership clubs across the country, bringing together the best players from Scotland’s domestic game.

Ayr, who are currently top of the Tennent’s Premiership, have eight players included in the squad with Frazier Climo, Danny McClusky, Kyle Rowe and David Armstrong picking from their back line.

Currie have five named representatives, one being Robbie Nelson who has two sisters that have won representative honours with the Scotland Women team, in Helen and Bryony.

Scotland Club XV Head Coach Rob Chrystie said, “It’s exciting to take it on after being the forwards coach last year.”

“It’s an exciting stepping stone for those selected, and we’ve got a good blend and balance of youth and experience with those who have been selected, to recieve the highest reprehensive honours available in the club game.”

“Selection has been all about those playing well in the Premiership and it’s great that these guys will get the opportunity to show what they are all about.”

The home-leg of the Dalriada Cup will be at 1 February at Myreside before the team travel to Energia Park on 8 February for the return fixture.
