World Rugby has today announced the match official appointments for the Women’s Six Nations Championship 2019.
The appointments include ten female referees and six of the selected referees will be making their Six Nations debuts. One of the debutants is Scotland’s Hollie Davidson.
Davidson, a capped Scotland U20 player, took up refereeing after a shoulder injury prevented her from playing. Within a short time, she quit her job in the financial sector to become the first Scottish female professional match official.
Over the last 12 months, Davidson’s career has seen her experience being part of major moments for the sport. She was selected to referee at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games as well as in San Francisco for the Rugby World Cup Sevens. In October she was selected to be in the middle for her first Women’s World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series final in Denver, USA.
Davidson said, “I’m really excited to make my Six Nations debut after missing out due to injury last year. The competition is growing year on and year and so to be selected as one of the match officials is an honour.”
Davidson will be refereeing the Wales v Ireland match at Cardiff Arms Park on March 17. She will also be the assistant referee for the England v France on February 10 at Castle Park.
