GB Sevens to host International Rugby 7s at St. George’s Park

7 May 2021

GB Sevens will host ‘International Rugby 7s’ an Olympic preparation event this weekend.

The tournament will take place at St. George’s Park, the national football centre, between 15-17 May.

On the men’s side, Great Britain will be joined by USA and Ireland, with the women’s teams of France and Ireland competing alongside Great Britain. The unique format will see two games for each side per day, with points to be gained towards the final standings throughout the three days.

The tournament will be played behind closed doors with the event streamed in full on England Rugby channels. Follow the links below to watch live on YouTube.

GB Sevens team leader Charlie Hayter said: “It’s a great chance for international sides to compete in the run-up to Tokyo and before the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2021.

“We are thankful for the huge amount of work and collaboration by numerous stakeholders to make this event possible.

“For our squads to pull on a Great Britain shirt for the first time in a competitive tournament is a big step towards Tokyo. We are grateful to National Lottery players for supporting GB7s and helping to make this journey possible.”
