Getting to know: Cameron Redpath

28 Jan 2021

There are four new faces in the Scotland squad for the upcoming Guinness Six Nations. Ewan Ashman, Dave Cherry, Alex Craig and Cameron Redpath have all been selected by Gregor Townsend and could be capped over the next couple of months.

Cameron Redpath plays for English Premiership side, Bath.

He has been called up to a senior Scotland squad for the first time and despite being born in France and growing up in England, the Bath centre is no stranger to Scottish rugby.

His father, Bryan, is a former Scotland captain who won 60 caps and was part of the 1999 Five Nations championship-winning side.

Although his Dad was a scrum-half, Cameron plays mainly at inside centre, but can also operate at fly-half.

The 21-year-old came through the Sale Sharks academy set-up and played 22 times for the senior side, before moving to Bath for a six-figure transfer fee, on a three-year contract in February 2020.

He has played 15 times for Bath and has scored two tries in the English Premiership this season.

Cameron represented Scotland at U16 level and both Scotland and England at U18 level.

He has played nine times for England U20 and has scored three tries – against Wales, France and Scotland.

Redpath was selected by the senior England team to tour South Africa in the summer of 2018, whilst still a pupil at Sedbergh School. However, he was never capped by England due to injury and has now been named in the Scotland squad for the upcoming Guinness Six Nations.
