The 1st XV are the team most people would focus on but they are only as good as the 2nd XV, we have used in excess of 30 players this year which is a credit to all involved.”GHK’s involvement in the BT Cup this season with victories over both BT Premiership and BT National League 2 clubs has also highlighted the club’s high performance standards. With 101 registered children playing at GHK, the club’s mini section is a large part of its success.Woolard said: “Our mini section continues to go from strength to strength and it is evident that all year groups are having fun and winning matches.”The club, who share their facilities with BT Premiership outfit, Glasgow Hawks, have also invested in playing surfaces over the seasons and are currently developing a state of the art floodlit training pitch to allow teams to train more regularly and throughout the evenings.”The pitches have received considerable investment with a new re-laid pitch, hard wearing surface training pitch and replacement drainage throughout Old Anniesland, allowing various teams to be accommodated,” he added. In winning the award, GHK will receive a prize of the value of£1000, through a 12-month BT Sport subscription and£200 cash. They will also win a table for 10 at the Scottish Rugby Club Awards Dinner on Friday 27 May, and will be subsidised£500 for travel expenses to this event.
