Glasgow University will take on Edinburgh University in the BUCS Trophy final at the University of Bath tomorrow, Wednesday 22 March (kick-off 11am), in an all-Scottish showdown. Glasgow are aiming to lift their first BUCS Trophy having impressed in the league, winning Scottish 1A, and pushing past Manchester, Leicester and Exeter in the knockout rounds to progress to Wednesday’s final.  Glasgow University Club Chairman, Matt Horsman, said: “It is a massive achievement for GURFC’s 1st XV to reach the BUCS Trophy Final, we feel we have really upset the odds on numerous occasions to reach this stage.The boys are all aware that they are making GURFC history by getting this far so there is a real buzz around the club at the moment with this season marking a phenomenal performance by Scottish universities.”Edinburgh University were also crowned league champions this season, topping Premier North B, while overcoming Reading, St Andrews and Durham to secure a place in the BUCS Trophy final.Nick Stephen, Edinburgh University 1st XV Captain, said: We set out at the start of the season to win the league and BUCS Trophy so to be within touching distance of that goal means the world.The highlight for me personally was beating St Andrews in the BUCS Trophy quarter-final after losing out to them during this season’s Varsity match at BT Murrayfield. It was a great game of rugby and to get the result as well was fantastic and has set us up for the run we’ve been on.”Having two Scottish universities in the final is a testament to the quality of student rugby in Scotland. It’s great to be part of at the moment with Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews and Aberdeen all competing at a high level.”Edinburgh and Glasgow universities also boast 2nd and 3rd teams alongside thriving ladies’ sections.Edinburgh University Women are set to take on Durham University in the BUCS Championship semi-final on Wednesday (kick-off 3.30pm) with the championship final held at Twickenham on Wednesday 29 March.
