On this week’s Official Scottish Rugby Podcast, Al Kellock and Jamie McMillan catch up with Gregor Townsend. Gregor talks about the Guinness Six Nations campaign, including the win over France, the postponed match against Wales and his leadership group. He also talks about the postponement of the Summer Tour, for the first time since it was announced last week.

In a wide-ranging interview the Scotland Head Coach also gives an insight into what he has been doing during the lockdown period and talks about some of the classic Scotland matches, which have been shown over the last couple of months.

“I hope everyone sees positives in this situation, so it could be that you’ve got family that you can spend more time with, which isn’t always the case in a rugby career. It could be that you’re coming back from injury and this is a really good opportunity to get your body right, it could be just a break now gives you the desire to play the sport you love and rekindle that. There are lots of things, lots of things which will mean when you come back out of this you’ll do all you can to be the player you can be.” – Gregor Townsend

This week also sees the introduction of a brand new guest host – Scotland Women’s captain, Rachel Malcolm will be on the podcast for the next few weeks to give her exclusive insight into what happens on and off the pitch.

Scottish Rugby’s Player Liaison, Ben Atiga is also on this week’s podcast to talk about the Rugby for Life Programme on what is Mental Health Awareness Week. Ben also gives an insight into what the players are doing during the lockdown period.

“Mental health doesn’t discriminate, nobody is immune to it. We all go through similar issues, the most important thing that I’ve learnt, especially as a young player, is to reach out to someone you trust, someone who cares about you, someone you are comfortable talking to about these kind of things.” – Ben Atiga
