Scottish Women??™s Rugby (SWRU) have struck up a strong partnership with the Weatherford??™s Pipeline & Specialty Services group (P&SS) who are pledging their support to them on the road to qualification for the IRB Rugby World Cup 7s in Dubai in 2009. The Weatherford??™s sponsored rugby club Rugby Ecosse and the SWRU are combining resources and experience of the Dubai tournament to give players from the SWRU Performance Programme a chance to gain invaluable insight and important game time at the Dubai International Women??™s 7s rugby tournament in Dubai, November 29 – December 1, ahead of Scotland Women??™s World Cup qualification attempt this summer. Kenny Murray, Rugby Ecosse team coach, said:???This trip is an excellent opportunity for players to develop key skills for the 7-a-side game and will play a crucial role in preparation for the IRB Rugby World Cup 7s in 2009. ???The International Ladies Tournament in Dubai will provide a real test for the team with high quality opposition expected at this year??™s event.??? In 2005 they won the coveted prize, and in 2006 they were just pipped to the post by Greater Little Rock, USA. Murray welcomes the partnership with Weatherford??™s and Rugby Ecosse, saying: ???They have been a loyal and generous supporter of rugby 7s in both the men??™s and women??™s game in Scotland.??? Keith O??™Connor, VP of Weatherford??™s Pipeline & Specialty Services group, added: ???The girls have done us all proud in the past and we look forward to seeing them in the final once again.
