Scottish Rugby today extended its long-standing partnership with Spire Edinburgh Hospitals as the governing body’s Official Healthcare partner.
The three-year extension will see the partnership – which started in 2008 – run to at least 2022, with the reach of the relationships widened to include Scotland 7s, Women and U20, the FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy and all FOSROC Super6 teams.
James Robson MBE, Scottish Rugby’s Chief Medical Officer and Scotland Team Doctor, said “Player welfare is a top priority and Spire Edinburgh Hospitals provide Scottish Rugby, and its associated teams, with first-class diagnosis and an excellent standard of clinical care.
“We’re delighted to continue working with Spire. The level of care we receive from the hospitals will ensure these teams are always in the safest hands.”
Spire Edinburgh Hospitals have delivered outstanding healthcare in the east of Scotland since 1984, with world-class consultant physicians and surgeons offering services for diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions.
They are one of the largest providers of private healthcare in the United Kingdom, with a range of medical expertise stemming from leading consultants.
Ken Hay, Hospital Director at Spire Edinburgh Hospitals, said: “It’s a privilege to provide healthcare to Scotland’s best rugby players.
“The healthcare we provide for Scottish Rugby is exactly the same as that which is offered to all of our patients – exceptional surgeons, excellent care and pioneering technology.
“Spire Edinburgh Hospitals now offer rapid access to high quality scanning at both Murrayfield and Shawfair Park Hospital to help meet the needs of both Scottish Rugby and the Scottish public in general.”
Spire Edinburgh Hospitals are easily accessible and within an hour of the Lothians, Borders, Fife and Tayside.
