McAllister to join Scotland 7s management

Scottish Rugby are delighted to announce Scot McAllister as Scotland 7s physio for the 2013/14 season leading up to the Commonwealth Games in July next year.McAllister joins the organisation, on Monday 14 October, following the first leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series on the Gold Coast, from Yorkshire Cricket where he has worked since 2003. He said:”I’m very excited to be joining Scotland 7s and getting involved on the HSBC Sevens World Series circuit and Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year.”Being half Scottish, it’s a role I’m very proud of and know will be a good new challenge.” McAllister spent two years with Lancashire Cricket, from 2000, before moving to Yorkshire Cricket for 11 seasons. He has also been a part of the England Cricket Lions and Performance programmes, travelling to India, Sri Lanka and Australia. Scotland 7s head coach, Stephen Gemmell, said: “We’re delighted to have someone of Scot’s experience and calibre joining the squad in an important year for the sevens. “He comes in from a different sport, so we’re excited to see what new ideas he’ll bring to both the players and the management.”
