(Photo by Mark Scates / SNS Group) Hawick left Philiphaugh with a resounding 3-59 win over Selkirk, taking with them the Bill McLaren Shield. Andrew Mitchell, Lee Armstrong, Calum Renwick and Kirk Ford all bagged a brace, with Jae Linton adding to the try tally.
Last year’s champions sit at the top of the table after 18 rounds and will play host to fellow Borders side, Kelso.
It has been a resounding season for Kelso, returning to the Premiership league for the first time in over 20 years, and earning a play-off spot.
Their 12-48 victory over Jed-Forest sealed the deal with a spot in fourth place. James Thompson and Robbie Tweedie both scored a brace, with Archie Barbour, Euan Thompson, Dwain Patterson and Murray Hastie also contributing tries for the men in black and white.
Currie Chieftains and Marr are the final teams to make the play-offs, of which both teams are more than familiar with, having reached this position in the last two seasons.
A bonus-point win against Musselburgh, which was concluded 33-39 in favour of the visitors, kept Marr firmly in second place, whilst Currie’s comprehensive 36-10 victory over Edinburgh Accies kept them inside the top four for a play-off spot.
The outcome of the rescheduled league match between Currie Chieftains and Marr will determine which of the two will host the other.
Dates and kick-off times will be confirmed in due course, as the Premiership league continues to progress with rescheduled league fixtures.
The winner of each play-off will go on to compete in the Premiership Final.
