Scotland’s women’s teams had a mixed set of results over the weekend. Despite difficult weather conditions Scotland Women Development’s head coach Jules Murciano was pleased with her side’s performance. She said: The girls played very well. The snow blizzard didn’t help but there were some very good individual showings. However I’m most pleased with the overall team performance. Facing a strong British Army team Murciano felt her team more than managed. She added: It was a hard fought game and they were a very physical side but we showed the practical side of our game and stuck to the principals we’d been working on in training. It was a good display of how well our development programme is working. A final score of 10 – 0 shows how close an encounter it was with Scotland’s points coming through Stand-off Emma Evans and centre Hayley Legg. The SWRU U18 squad were less fortunate suffering a 30 – 3 defeat to England Colleges. With a relatively inexperienced side head Coach Kenny Christie was pleased with his team. He said: It was really our first game together and we were looking for a performance rather than a result. The girls stepped up to the mark. The first-half performance was strong; they battled throughout and played with a lot of maturity. Scotland Women’s senior team will continue their 6 Nations campaign away from home against their Welsh counterparts, this Sunday, 10th of February. Scotland Women return home to Meggetland, Edinburgh – home of Scottish Hydro Electric Premier One champions Boroughmuir – on Saturday 8 March when they face England in their second home international of the Women’s Six Nations Championship (kick-off 12 noon). Adults with a valid match ticket for the men’s international at Murrayfield will also be granted free admission.
