New Edinburgh Rugby home to host 2021 FOSROC Super6 Final

Scottish Rugby has today announced that the 2021 FOSROC Super6 Final will take place at The DAM Health Stadium, the new home to Edinburgh Rugby.

The climax of the 2021 FOSROC Super6 tournament will take place on Sunday 17 October (kick-off 1.30pm). Spectators are welcomed to The DAM Health Stadium to support the top two teams in the final action of the season, tickets are on sale now.*

The match will be broadcast live on FreeSports with commentary from Stuart McFarlane and Chris Paterson, presented by Dougie Vipond.

The FOSROC Super6 trophy will be contested for by the two teams who finish in first and second place at the end of the ten regular rounds of competition, which culminates on Sunday 10 October.

To determine the final third and fourth place standings, the team that finishes third after the regular rounds of competition will host fourth place on Friday 15 October – kick-off 7.30pm. That match that will be broadcast live on BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport Scotland website and scottishrugby.org.

On the afternoon of Saturday 16 October, the fifth-place team will host sixth to determine those final placings, highlights of this game will be available shortly after.

Highlights of all three games will be available in a special show on the BBC Scotland channel on the Sunday evening.

Across the 21 games played so far in the 2021 season, there has been an average of only 12 points difference per game with a total of 108 tries and 875 points scored, including three drop goals.

After seven rounds of competition Southern Knights lead the way on 25 points, Ayrshire Bulls have recently found their form and sit only three points behind them on 22.

Watsonians Rugby, who started strongly, sit in third on 19 points with Stirling County starting to climb the table on 15.

Closing out the league table are fifth place Heriot’s Rugby on 13 and sixth place Boroughmuir Bears on nine league points.

The six teams have three rounds of regular competition left to determine their league standings before the fixtures for the finals weekend are confirmed.

FOSROC Super6 Tournament Director, Stephen Gemmell, said: “Although the tournament was denied the play-off games and the finals weekend in the inaugural FOSROC Super6 season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s fantastic that the tournament has hit the ground running this season and will culminate in the final at Edinburgh Rugby’s new home The DAM Health Stadium.

“The playing surface and new professional facilities it has will provide a great platform for the climax of the competition and a destination final to which all of the teams can aspire.

“It’s tremendous news the match will be broadcast live on FreeSports, for those inside the UK and Ireland, for those out with our shores it will be available at scottishrugby.org.

“It’s also great to see highlights of all three games on Sunday evening on the BBC Scotland channel allowing the best of part-time professional rugby in Scotland to be showcased to an audience across the country”.
