Preview: Scotland v France
22 Oct 2020Scotland host France this Sunday (25 March, kick-off 2.20pm GMT) at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow to restart their 2020 Women’s Six Nations campaign.

The match comes after an eight-month break in fixtures due to the COVID-19 crisis and will be the team’s third match of the championship having already faced Ireland and England back in February. The Scottish Government has confirmed that although professional sport can proceed this month, due to COVID-19 restrictions, this month’s fixtures must be played behind closed doors.
The last time the two side’s met in France, the hosts came out on top with Scotland scoring two gritty tries in front of a 9,000 strong crowd in Lille. France currently sit fourth in the World Rugby rankings with Scotland at 11th. It will be a tough first game back for the Scotland team, but they are up for the challenge in what will be an important month ahead as they prepare for the Rugby World Cup Qualifiers in December.
Interim Scotland Women Head Coach Bryan Easson has named the
starting team for his side’s rescheduled Women’s Six Nations match. Stirling
County’s Rachel Shankland is set to make her test debut, as she combines with
Chloe Rollie and Megan Gaffney in the back-three. Flanker Rachel Malcolm
continues her role as captain and joins Rachel McLachlan and Jade Konkel to
form an abrasive back-row. Abi Evans is named among the replacements as she
returns from injury, while Rachel Law could make her debut if called upon from
the bench.

Interim Head Coach Bryan Easson looks ahead to the upcoming fixtures, which will be his first in charge of the team: “The last time we played was back in February against England, so this fixture is important for us to see where we currently are as a squad.”
“The players have been training with real purpose at our recent weekend camps and are all ready to push themselves against France.”

Next week, Scotland take on Wales at Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday 1 November (kick-off 5pm GMT). The third and final match for the Scots will see them travel to the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi to face their Italian counterparts (Sunday 6 December, kick-off 5.20pm GMT).
