Scotland Men U18 lost out to a last-gasp penalty kick as they hosted Ireland U18 at Hive Stadium on Sunday as preparations for the U18 Six Nations Festival begin.
Ross Miller’s squad were in camp Friday-Sunday, with training sessions over the first two days before Sunday’s fixture.
A try from William Geary, a double from Alexander Sneddon and a penalty try had Scotland in front before Ireland struck with the late kick.
The U18 squad will now train with a Scotland U19 squad this week, before heading off to Vichy France at the start of April for the 2026 U18 Men’s Six Nations Festival.
In Vichy they will open by playing Wales on Friday 3 April, then face Italy on Tuesday 7 April before finishing against Georgia on Saturday 11 April.
Head Coach Ross Miller said: “There’s a big learning around this level of game for these players, this is the first time they’ve played as a group. We learned a lot about them, which is great.
“We had a camp the week before, and this was our second camp. The guys have trained hard, and the game is a real good addition to the weekend.
“You want to play the best opposition at the highest level, so you absolutely want to have these games. It was excellent to have Ireland at Hive Stadium, it’s a great facility for us.
“Training with the U19 group will give us some good feedback, we’ll do some scenario-based things with them before going to Vichy next week.”
