Sarah Beaney Cup – Pool stages continue this weekend

To date Cartha have 11 points from three completed games to lead the section while Watsonians, the holders, have 10 points from two games and are second in the pool.

Both sides had good wins last time out, Cartha heading back to Glasgow with a 29-0 victory at Garioch and Watsonians seeing off Stirling County 26-5.

This weekend will be exciting when Stirling County and Howe Harlequins, fourth and fifth in the pool respectively, meet.

That match has been moved to Lornshill Academy with Bridgehaugh unplayable.

In Pool B on Sunday there are also two matches.

Leaders Corstorphine, fresh from their impressive win at Hillhead Jordanhill, host third placed Stewartry Sirens.

The match has been moved to the 3G surface at Peffermill in the capital and Corstorphine head coach Eric Jones said: “We’re looking to build on last week’s performance.

“We haven’t played Stewartry in a year or so, but we’re expecting a tough game from them as always, with Suzy Rook back in the front-row, Lisa Ritchie at 10 and Chloe Johnstone in the centre we know they have threats around the park.

“We have to be more accurate in a couple of areas, so we’ve been working hard on those in training.”

Stewartry go into the game having beaten Ayr 37-0 last time out.

Heriot’s Blues are on the road to Ayr in the other Pool B match.

There are four National Plate matches scheduled for the coming days.

It kicks off with Shetland hosting Glasgow University on Saturday, the teams currently fifth and fourth in Pool A respectively.

On Sunday, second placed Pool A outfit Inverness Craig Dunain are on the road to Greenock Wanderers with leaders Broughton not in action.

Annan are in top spot in Pool B and they are on duty on Sunday.

They are on the road to an Oban Lorne outfit who have only played one game so far while third placed West of Scotland take on Kirkcaldy.

In the National Bowl there are six matches spread out over the weekend, Orkney Dragons versus the Midlands Development team and Bishopton against Stornoway kicking things off on Saturday.
