Scotland 7s fixtures and squad for Canada announced
9 Mar 2017
Scotland 7s Head Coach Calum MacRae has made two changes to his squad ahead of the Canadian leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series.Robert Beattie and Glenn Bryce have joined the team in Vancouver with Sean Kennedy and Tom Brown returning home.Scotland have been drawn along with the hosts Canada in Pool D as well as New Zealand and Russia.Speaking ahead of the competition MacRae said: “It’s great to welcome back Glenn and Bobby who have played with us already this series. “Glenn improved over the two weeks he spent with us in Wellington and Sydney and his decisive running game transferred to his performances for Edinburgh when he returned home.”Bobby comes back into the fold having recovered from a knock he picked up in Australia and he is desperate to get out there and show how much he has progressed.”The opener against Canada will be a great game in front of a full house. We have big match experience in the squad from the last six months of competition and have senior international experience to draw on.”It’s a tough pool, New Zealand are starting to gel with some new faces stepping up and Russia have made massive strides since coming into the series last year.”We have looked at where we need to improve from our last outing and will be ready to go come Saturday.” Scotland 7s fixtures in the sixth leg of the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series in Vancouver, Saturday 11 March & Sunday 12 March (Kick-off times in GMT) 11 March7.42pm – Canada 7s v Scotland 7s11.40pm – New Zealand 7s v Scotland 7s12 March2.58am – Scotland 7s v Russia 7sTBC Scotland 7s squad to compete in Vancouver (World Series tournaments in brackets) 1.
