Following last weekend’s disappointment in Dubai, Scotland 7s coach Stephen Gemmell explained that some soul-searching had been done in the early part of this week, but that there is a collective determination to improve their performance. He said: “There was massive disappointment with our results last weekend. But at the start of this week, we sat down and identified areas on and off the pitch that needed to be sorted. We have been very specific in our approach to this weekend. “It’s been a very physical week of training because we have a collective determination to put things right.” Looking ahead to the second leg of the eight-leg IRB Sevens World Series, Gemmell continued: “This week our focus is all on performance. We are all hurting from last weekend but everything that needed saying has now been said. “Last week is now over and we have a fresh opportunity in front of us.” Scotland 7s squad to compete at the IRB Sevens World Series events in Dubai (5 & 6 December) and George, South Africa (11 & 12 December): Scott Forrest* CAPTAIN, Mike Adamson*, Grant Anderson (Ayr)**, Mike Baxter (Bath), James Eddie (Glasgow Warriors), Peter Jericevich (Glasgow Hawks)**, Lee Jones (Selkirk), Stuart McInally (Watsonians)**, Hefin O’Hare (Glasgow Warriors), Colin Shaw*, David Tait (Sale Sharks), Andrew Turnbull (Edinburgh) * = Fulltime Scotland 7s player.** = Member of Scottish Rugby’s Contracted National Academy IRB South Africa Sevens, Pool D: Scotland, England, Argentina, TunisiaScotland 7s’ Pool D fixtures on day one (Friday 11 December) of the Emirates Airline South Africa Sevens (11 & 12 December):Scotland v Argentina, 11.42am local time, 9.42am GMTScotland v Tunisia, 2.48pm local time, 12.48pm GMTScotland v England, 7.32pm local time, 5.32pm GMT All the latest scores and reaction will be available on www.scottishrugby.org
