The HSBC World Sevens Series returns this weekend, as the circuit arrives in Singapore for the fifth leg of this season’s competition.
Following two events in Dubai at the tail end of 2021, where Scots represented Team GB, Scotland returned to proceedings for a Spanish double-header in January.
Playing on in the series for the first time since March 2020, Scotland featured in both Malaga and Seville, the latter tournament seeing Ciaran Beattie’s charges finish in seventh place following some spirited performances against, amongst others, series leaders South Africa.
Scotland are drawn in Pool C of the Singapore HSBC World Sevens Series, and will come up against Argentina, Wales and New Zealand in another exciting group. Argentina have excelled thus far, earning a runners-up spot in Dubai as well as three further third-place finishes to sit second in the overall standings.
In the case of New Zealand, for so long one of the marquee names on the sevens circuit, this weekend marks a return post-Covid for a squad that is an unknown, if talented, quantity.
The Singapore leg will finish on Sunday, before the players move on to Canada to compete in the HSBC World Sevens Series event in Vancouver on April 16 and 17, in what is a typically action-packed schedule for Scotland 7s.
You can watch all the action live on the World Rugby YouTube channel, with games and times for Scotland’s Pool C fixtures detailed here:
