Scotland Club XV in focus
16 Mar 2016
As the Scotland Club XV prepare to make the trip to Cork for their next fixture against Ireland Club XV on Friday night, Scottish Rugby caught up with some of the squad to find out what life is like away from the club jersey.Nick Beavon (Melrose)Nick is a timber mechanic and runs his own joinery firm, N. Beavon Joinery, when he’s not packing down for Melrose in the front-row and helping his team to a top four finish in the BT Premiership. The 29-year-old manages his time between training and customising woodwork for clients. Jack Turley (Heriot’s)The Heriot’s captain spends a large proportion of his week moving furniture for The Green Man and Van company and can often be seen arriving at Goldenacre in his green van for training sessions. Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, the 27-year-old divides his time between working as a removals man and helping Heriot’s defend their BT Premiership title. Ross Curle (Ayr) Aside from steering Ayr towards a top of the table finish in the BT Premiership and a BT Cup semi-final spot this season; Ross has been busy implementing marketing strategies for Scottish Rugby. The Ayr and Scotland Club XV captain can be found in the offices of BT Murrayfield throughout the week. Jamie Bhatti (Melrose)Jamie starts his working day around 6.30am as a slaughterman in Bridge of Allan and often makes the journey to Melrose for weekly training sessions after a long day’s work. The former Scotland under-20 prop holds down a physical job and always manages to put in a shift in the front-row come BT Premiership or Cup action. Paddy Boyer (Glasgow Hawks) The Hawks scrum-half graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a Masters in International Business with French in 2013, and also spent some time playing for Tarbes Pyrénées Rugby while on a marketing internship in France.Paddy currently works as a Marketing Manager for Glasgow-based mobile event catering company, The Supreme Group, when he’s not helping Hawks secure a BT Cup semi-final place.
