Scotland complete Autumn Tests with 11th sell-out match in a row

23 Nov 2018

Scotland will play in front of a full house 67,144 fans tomorrow at BT Murrayfield as the final Autumn Test of 2018 is now a sell-out and the 11th consecutive capacity crowd at Scotland’s largest stadium.

The sell-out sequence started with the match vs Ireland in the 2017 RBS Six Nations and Scotland fans have backed their team every time since with full-houses at BT Murrayfield.

With the 2019 Six Nations kicking-off in only two months ticket sale rates for next year’s fixtures are already reaching record levels, with 20,000 tickets sold yesterday (22 Nov 2018) alone.

With pre-sales from Scotland Supporters Club members adding to the demand Scottish Rugby sold 36,000 tickets in the last three days alone.

Scotland Head Coach, Gregor Townsend said: “On behalf of the team and the coaches I’d like to thank our fans for their continuing support, reaching 11 sell-outs in a row is a fantastic achievement.

“Having a capacity crowd gives us a great stage to play test rugby and the players really feed off the energy the fans generate and enjoy that special connection with the supporters.

“The noise and atmosphere created by the fans is inspiring for us and makes BT Murrayfield difficult for the opposition. I know the players get a real lift from the level of support they are receiving.”

Scottish Rugby’s Chief Operating Officer Dominic McKay said: “I would like to thank all our fans for their continued and record-breaking support. The passion and skill the team are showing right now makes a Scotland ticket at BT Murrayfield hot property and combined with our unrivalled matchday experience creates a great sporting occasion.

“As we enter 2019, with the Rugby World Cup ahead, we have seen some incredible ticket sales figures in the last couple of days for the Six Nations and we look forward to continuing to give the Scotland team more full-houses to play in front of in the months ahead.”

The 67,144 sell-out for Argentina will be the biggest crowd for this fixture in Scotland surpassing the previous record crowd of 50,481 from the Autumn Test of 2016.
