Scotland look forward to hosting France at Scotstoun

5 Mar 2020

Scotland Head Coach Philip Doyle has named his team for his side’s home Women’s Six Nations match against France on Saturday at Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow (kick-off 7.45pm – live on BBC Alba).

Doyle has made no changes to the side that was due to face Italy two weeks ago in a match that had to be postponed due to the concerns over the coronavirus in Italy.

Mairi McDonald starts at scrum-half with Helen Nelson named at stand-off. Hannah Smith will be supported by Lisa Thomson in the centre and Rhona Lloyd is selected alongside Megan Gaffney on the wing, as Chloe Rollie retains the full-back berth.

In the pack, Lana Skeldon will take to the field for her 40th cap for Scotland at hooker, with props Leah Bartlett and Mairi Forsyth either side of her.

Emma Wassell and Sarah Bonar are paired in the second-row once more with number 8 Jade Konkel flanked by captain Rachel Malcolm (blindside) and Rachel McLachlan at openside.

Doyle said on selection: “We are under no illusion that this is going to be a tough challenge playing against France. The squad are in a really good place though and are just eager to get on the field and focus on the match ahead.

“We are in a fortunate position to have no new injuries so we didn’t feel the need to change the team at all following the selection for Italy.”

“Following the postponement of the Italy match, they are all just really looking forward to playing on Saturday and are feeling fresh after the break.”
