Scotland Women U18 7s finished fourth in the second leg of the Home Nations U18 7s in Birmingham in spite of some improved performances on day two of the competition.

The squad lost their first two matches to England and Wales, teams they had beaten at the same stage in the previous competition, before playing unbeaten leg one winners Ireland.

An improved performance was not enough to overcome the Irish which set up a repeat fixture in the semi-finals on day two.

Another strong showing from the team saw them score first but they could not stop the clinical Ireland side which put Scotland into their second 3rdplace play-off of the series.

A couple of scores from the Scots in their last match against Wales did not reverse their fortunes and the team finished fourth overall.

Scotland Women U18 7s Head Coach, Graeme Blackhall, said:

“The girls have learnt a huge amount from their experiences this weekend and I can only praise them for their attitude and determination.

“Although the scoreboard didn’t always reflect their efforts, they should take massive confidence from how far they have come as a squad.”
