In the Guinness Men’s Six Nations, a competition of this stature offers no easy matchups; every player must face some of the finest athletes in world rugby to secure a victory.
As we look forward to the 2026 Guinness Men’s Six Nations here are some opposite number matchups that you should watch out for.
The midfield battle in Rome features two of the most physical and technically gifted centres in the northern hemisphere. Tuipulotu, our captain, is a catalyst of the Scottish attack, providing the gain-line success and distribution required to unleash the backline. His British and Irish Lions selection during 2025’s Tour in Australia underlines his standings on the world stage.
Across from him, a former Six Nations Player of the Championship, Tommaso Menoncello is known for his physicality in contact, both with and without the ball. These centres excel at breaking tackles and creating offloads under pressure, making this a contest of power and defensive intelligence in the midfield channels.

The Calcutta Cup is often decided at the set-piece, and this heavyweight clash in the front row will be a focal point at Scottish Gas Murrayfield during the second round of the Guinness Men’s Six Nations.
Fagerson, a seasoned veteran of the Scottish pack and the most capped prop in the nation’s storied history, provides the stability and mobility needed to compete with the explosive style of the man he’ll be locking up against. As Genge is known for aggressive scrummaging and impactful carrying, Fagerson’s technique and endurance will be tested from the first whistle to ensure a clean platform for the Scottish backs.

At the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, the touchlines will play host to a clash between two of the most explosive finishers in world rugby. Scotland’s Duhan van der Merwe and Wales’ Louis Rees-Zammit both possess the ability to turn a half-chance into a length-of-the-field score.
Despite a stateside hiatus from Rugby Union, Louis Rees-Zammit is one of the most electric young talents in the sport and is looking as sharp as ever upon his return. However, he will be facing a match-fresh Van der Merwe who always poses a tremendous physical threat and is fresh off the heels of a three-try Quilter Nations Series.

Two players that dictate the game from the fullback position through the air and on the counter, this matchup could be one of the most exciting and high scoring of this Guiness Men’s Six Nations. Ramos and Kinghorn both had outstanding campaigns last Six Nations with the former leading the way in point scored, largely down to his kicking prowess, and the latter leading all players in carries, metres made, line breaks and offloads – a truly dominant series with ball in hand.
It is these types of performances that will shape the tie at Scottish Gas Murrayfield as Scotland look to topple last year’s champions. Kinghorn’s carrying power and the exceptional long-range goal-kicking of Ramos mean no error in the backfield will go unpunished.

The Guinness Men’s Six Nations concludes at the Aviva Stadium with a fierce battle between two of the most prolific flankers in world rugby as Rory Darge and Josh van der Flier look to win supremacy at the breakdown. The two men dominated the physical game at last year’s Guinness Men’s Six Nations as Rory Darge led all players in attacking ruck arrivals and cleanouts. His relentless work rate will be tested to the limit by Van der Flier, a former World Rugby Player of the Year renowned for his incredible engine and defensive anticipation.
These jackaling experts will look to be disruptive forces at the breakdown in a game that promises aggressive ball carrying and high-octane rugby for a full 80 minutes. With the ability to dictate the speed of this game, watch out for this fierce matchup in the trenches.
