Scottish Rugby maps way forward

New policy proposals to be implemented for academy players, coaching and women’s rugbyScottish Rugby has developed new strategic policy initiatives to map the way ahead for club, school and women’s rugby; including a new Regional Academy set-up for the most promising young players and a new coaching initiative.Initial discussions were well received by club representatives across the fora of Premiership, Championship and National leagues, as well as those of women’s rugby and refereeing, at last night’s SRU President’s roadshow at Murrayfield Stadium. The initiatives – which are designed to stimulate discussion – will be presented to the wider rugby community, government at both Holyrood and local level, sponsors and media, in order to tie into Scottish Rugby’s current strategic plan, under which increasing the number of people playing the game is paramount.Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive, Mark Dodson, said: “We believe these are important policy initiatives that underline our ambition to continue to grow the game at all levels in Scotland and to support the objectives that we outlined in our strategic plan.”Click here to view a summary of the policy initiatives
