Scottish Rugby to launch Schools Week initiative

11 Jun 2021

Scottish Rugby is committed to growing school and youth rugby across the country and strengthening school to club relationships. That's why we are launching Scottish Rugby Schools Week as part of our Return to Rugby campaign!

Scottish Rugby’s Rugby Development teams will be facilitating this programme across the country between Monday 20 and Sunday 26 September 2021.

Scottish Rugby Schools Week is open to all schools across the country, with the Rugby Development teams looking to work closely with primary and secondary state schools who currently do not deliver rugby but wish to.

Through Scottish Rugby Schools Week we aim to create a range of opportunities for schools to offer practical and classroom based rugby activities that allow more young people the chance to access and experience rugby.

Rugby related activities could include:

* Physical Education Lesson (e.g. introduction to touch rugby as an evasion/possession game)
* Classroom Lesson (e.g. rugby themed content in a Mathematics or Geography lesson)
* Lunchtime/After School Session (e.g. come & try session delivered by Sports Leaders)
* Game/Festival (e.g. participation in a school rugby game or local/regional festival)
* Other (e.g. tailored session for children with Additional needs)

How does my school get involved?

Getting your School involved in Scottish Rugby Schools Week is easy!

Scottish Rugby’s Regional Development teams will then follow up with additional support, including an invitation to a regional webinar, after the summer to help you plan and deliver a form of rugby activity/activities at your school during the week.
