Scottish Rugby welcomes powerful partnership

20 Oct 2020

Scottish Rugby is celebrating its partnership with SP Energy Networks. The SP Energy Networks logo will sit proudly on the back of the Scotland team shirt for this month’s internationals against Georgia and Wales, as a thank you for their critical work during the pandemic.

SP Energy Networks are already the official sponsor for Scotland Women, Scotland U20 and Official Community Partner of Glasgow Warriors – committed to supporting grass root rugby and increasing community engagement in the areas they serve.

Throughout the pandemic, SP Energy Networks’ key workers have worked tirelessly to keep power flowing to their customers, allowing people across Scotland to stay connected with family, friends and workplaces. They’ve also safeguarded critical key services such as hospitals, health and social care facilities, food supply chain businesses and essential shops.

Supporting communities, they introduced a volunteer scheme for employees resulting in the production of PPE and scrubs for nationwide frontline NHS staff. Furthermore, the company’s apprentices volunteered their time to local charities to provide vital food delivery services to those most in need.

SP Energy Networks CEO Frank Mitchell said: “Despite the challenging backdrop of a pandemic we’ve worked tirelessly to keep electricity flowing to over 3.5 million customers, at a time when electricity has become more crucial than ever to our lives.

“We’ve had a relentless focus on the safety of our colleagues and customers during this time, and I know that the same focus on safety is shared by Scottish Rugby.

“We’re delighted to be an official partner of Scottish Rugby and stand ready to offer all the support we can to make sure the game goes from strength to strength. It’s times like this where we see the real value in partnerships. We really are stronger together.”

Scottish Rugby’s Chief Operating Officer, Dominic McKay, said: “Scottish Rugby very much values our long and enduring relationship with SP Energy Networks.

“We appreciate their continuing support, extending to the Scotland team for Friday’s international against Georgia and then our concluding GUINNESS Six Nations Championship match against Wales in Llanelli a week on Saturday.

“Scotland Women will continue to carry the SP Energy Networks logo on their kit too, beginning with their international against France at Scotstoun Stadium on Sunday.”
