Skyscanner Americas Tour to be shown live on TNT Sports and BBC Scotland

27 Jun 2024

The UK & Ireland broadcast details for Scotland’s four-game Skyscanner Americas Tour have been confirmed, with every game live on TNT Sports this July.

As part of the agreement between Scottish Rugby and TNT Sports, the Chile and Uruguay games will also be shown live free-to-air on the BBC Scotland channel and BBC iPlayer.

Highlights of all matches against Canada, USA, Chile and Uruguay will be available on the Scottish Rugby website and social media channels the morning after each game.

Beginning in North America, Scotland will take on the Canadians for the first time since 2018 in Edmonton where Scotland ran out 48-10 winners.
The match will take place on Saturday 6 July at TD Place in Ottawa (kick off 10pm BST).

Gregor Townsend’s men will then journey to Washington DC where they will play USA at Audi Field for the first time in six years. In their last meeting they were edged out by a point, losing 30-29 in Houston. The game will be played on Friday 12 July (kick-off 11.30pm BST).

South America will be the next stop on Scotland’s travels as they return to Chile to play at Estadio Nacional, Santiago on Saturday 20 July (kick off 8pm BST), where Scotland A won 45-5 two years ago.

The tour will conclude in Uruguay at Estadio Charrúa, Montevideo on Saturday 27 July (kick off 8pm BST) for an occasion which will mark the first time the two sides have played each other since the 1999 Rugby World Cup, in a match Scotland won 43-12, with Gregor Townsend scoring a try.

The TNT Sports commentary team will include Jamie Lyall, Paul Mitchell, Chris Paterson and Lee Jones.

Andrew Petrie and Fraser Brown will be commentating on the Chile and Uruguay games on the BBC Scotland channel, while BBC Scotland will bring their coverage of the two games in South America from two rugby clubs in Scotland, hosted by Andy Burke, Tom English and Duncan Weir.

In addition to Scotland’s four Skyscanner Americas Tour matches, TNT Sports will also show every Scotland game in this year’s Autumn Nations Series, against Fiji, South Africa, Portugal and Australia at Scottish Gas Murrayfield this November.

Viewers can watch TNT Sports via discovery+ Premium, EE, Sky or Virgin Media TV. The BBC Scotland channel is available on channel 108 on Virgin Media, 115 on Sky, 106 on Freeview & YouView, 106 on Freesat and on the BBC iPlayer.

Jeremy Bone, Scottish Rugby’s Broadcast Manager said: “We’re really pleased that all four of our Skyscanner Americas Tour matches will be available live in the UK and Ireland on TNT Sports, so our fans can watch our men’s team play Canada, USA, Chile and Uruguay next month.

“The agreement we’ve reached with TNT Sports means our matches in South America will also be available free-to-air on the BBC Scotland channel.”
