Stirling Wolves Coaching Team confirmed ahead of the FOSROC Super Series Sprint

15 Mar 2023

Stirling Wolves have today confirmed their coaching team ahead of the FOSROC Super Series Sprint which will make a return next month.

The Bridgehaugh side have announced that club stalwart Eddie Pollock will see the Wolves through the FOSROC Super Series on an Interim Head Coach basis.

He will be assisted by Sean Kennedy who returns to the coaching group from last year and joined by former Scotland International Duncan Hodge.

All three are well known to those across Scottish rugby with Pollock having coached several Scotland age-grade sides over the years including Head Coach of Scotland U18 and specialising in scrum and forwards coaching to other national programmes as well as being a mainstay of the Stirling County club.

Hodge will be known to many for his 26 Scottish International caps and 12-season long spell at Edinburgh Rugby where he was attack coach and also Interim Head Coach for a short spell. He worked as Scotland attack coach under Vern Cotter and has more recently been working with Fiji prior to returning to team coaching in Scotland with Stirling Wolves.

Kennedy played for Stirling County at U18 and returns to the coaching group for a third season whilst he continues his playing contract with Glasgow Warriors.

On joining Stirling Wolves Duncan Hodge said: “When this opportunity arose, I jumped at the chance to coach a team again.

“It’s been a great first four weeks since I joined the Stirling Wolves coaching team – working with a great set of coaches.

“I’ve already recognised we have a set of talented, hardworking individuals and I can’t wait to help the team and individuals develop over the course of the Sprint Series.”

Looking ahead to the start of the FOSROC Super Series Sprint Eddie Pollock said: “As a long time Stirling man, I am delighted to lead the Wolves on an interim basis into the new FOSROC Super Series which also involves Glasgow A and Edinburgh A.

“We have recruited a talented, hard-working group of players and the new coaching group have been pleased with their skill and huge effort shown at training.

“Personally, it has been great working alongside Duncan Hodge again and as you would expect, he has brought a huge amount of skill, experience and attention to detail to the group.

“Sean Kennedy is developing well as a young coach, asking searching questions of the players at training. Alongside this, his current playing knowledge has been an invaluable asset to all of us.

“We are all excited about the new season starting and we look forward to performing in front of a large passionate crowd at Bridgehaugh in the coming weeks.”

Assistant Coach Sean Kennedy said: “I’m really excited to get back into the season with the squad and the new coaching group. We have a talented group of players with good, core players from last season, alongside great new additions to the team.

“I’m also looking forward to learning from others within the coaching group, and I’m excited for what lies ahead this season.”
