Scotland Under-19 achieved sweet success tonight with a revenge win over Fiji in the IRB Under 19 World Championship, coming from behind to beat the islanders 11-7 at Belfast Harlequins ground in their first win of the tournament. Coach Peter Wright was clearly relieved and proud of his young squad. The young Scots lost out to Fiji last Friday by 25-23 at Shaws Bridge having gone down 11-6 to France in the opening match before losing 13-12 to Ireland in round two. Scotlands points tonight came from winger Lee Jones with a try while stand-off Ruaridh Jackson kicked two penalties. Fiji scrum-half Peni Rokodiva scored a try for the islanders after just eight minutes, converted by outside centre Setoki Butukoro, before Jacksons two penalties brought the Scots to within a point at half time. Jones try sealed it to take the Scots into a clash with Ireland on finals day (Saturday 21 April) for ninth place overall. The hosts beat Japan 31-10 tonight. They showed character and stuck to the game plan, forcing Fiji to make mistakes. It was all about winning this game so the performance wasnt as important to us on this occasion. Its a fantastic result and the effort put in by the players was superb. They had to battle for the win and they got it.
