Sydney 7s: How to follow

30 Jan 2020

Scotland 7s take part in the fourth leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Sydney, Australia, this weekend. We’ve pulled together some key information on how you can follow the tournament and see how the team get on Down Under.

FIXTURES

Scotland have been drawn in Pool C alongside hosts Australia, USA and Japan for the tournament at the Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta, Sydney on 1-2 February.

Once again, it’s an early alarm for Scotland fans with the first fixture against USA on Saturday 1 February at an eye-opening 12.57am (GMT) before Ciaran Beattie’s squad face Australia at 6.46am the same day in what is sure to be a match that lends itself to s cacophonous atmosphere.

A key difference is the structure of Day 2 with the final Pool C match against Japan coming at 12.07am on Sunday 2 February. Each Pool winner goes straight to the semi-finals, with the rest of the sides ranked accordingly and placed in one-off fixtures to determine final standings. For instance, last weekend Scotland faced Ireland in an 11th-place play-off based on the sides’ group results.
