Some 46 teams, from Caithness to Duns, took part in the second annual Positive Coaching Scotland festival held at the home of Perthshire RFC, Inch Park, this week.  The teams, from 15 clubs around the country, ranged from players in primary four all the way through to those in second year of secondary school.Positive Coaching Scotland manager Bosman Du Plessis, said:”The effort and sportsmanship shown by all teams was a showcase of what we are trying to achieve through this programme.”We can put a festival framework in place, but, at the end of the day, it’s the clubs’ commitment and hard work that makes it all come together.  “The efforts of all involved are deeply appreciated and I extend my thanks to those clubs who overcame logistical challenges to attend the festival.”The festival was a celebration of the valuable partnership between Scottish Rugby, The Bill McLaren Foundation, sportscotland and The Winning Scotland Foundation.A special scoring mechanism was used at the festival to embrace the values and ethos of the PCS programme, the winners being presented with the Best Team Effort award. Each team was given a score out of four for; number of tries scored, individual skill, team ethic, respect shown toward the referee and overall sportsmanship – the points from each section being tallied up to give a total score out of 20.Alan and Linda Lawson, directors of the Bill McLaren Foundation, presented the Best Team Effort awards to Duns, Bishopton and Caithness at P4/5, P6/7 and S1/2 respectively.The Positive Coaching Scotland programme in association with The Bill McLaren Foundation operates as a partnership between sportscotland, the Winning Scotland Foundation, the Bill McLaren Foundation and Scottish Rugby and has the main aims to build and sustain a strong and positive rugby culture in order to develop young rugby players and young people through the sport.This programme forms part of sportscotland’s national roll-out of the Positive Coaching Scotland programme through governing bodies and local authorities.Alloa, Berwick, Bishopton, Caithness, Cartha Queen’s Park, Currie, Dundee Wasps, Dunfermline, Duns, Ellon, Forrester, Hamilton, Highland, Hillfoots, Irvine, Langholm, Lasswade, Lochaber, Melrose, Mull, North Berwick, Peebles, Perth, Stew-Mel Lions and Strathendrick have all earned PCS accreditation.
