To assist in the orderly management of the game, World Rugby and Scottish Rugby have provided a series of Regulations governing the organisation of Matches and the ability of Players and others to participate in those Matches.

This section of our website provides information in relation to:
- playing a Match during the break between Seasons;
- obtaining permission to play in a new Union;
- approval of Matches and Tours (which includes the approval process in relation to both incoming and outgoing tours (Tour Approval) and the process to gain approval for a Match involving a team which is not a member of any Union; and
- the provision of payments and other benefits to players.
