Zimbabwe took the early initiative to score an unconverted try to have the edge at half-time. The Africans then started the second half as they had started the second, however, this time they added the conversion. Scotland then fought back with a try of their own but Zimbabwe proved too strong and slotted their third and final try to end the game 19-5 in their favour. Coach Stephen Gemmell said: Once again, there were too many players trying to play as individuals and we didn’t keep to the plan we had laid out before the game. Also, our work rate just wasn’t good enough. In terms of our performance, this has been a massively disappointing tournament.
