Scotland U20 convene for new-season camp

30 Nov 2020

Scotland U20s Head Coach Sean Lineen has selected a 36-man squad for a stand-alone three-day camp at Oriam this week.

The camp will enable two new coaches joining the Scotland U20 set up to work with the group and bring players together ahead of an U20 Six Nations in 2021

FOSROC Super6 Head Coaches Peter Murchie (Ayrshire Bulls) and Rob Chrystie (Southern Knights) will join Shade Munro as assistant coaches, with Murchie focusing on defence and Chrystie joining as skills coach.

The camp takes place under a number of coronavirus controls, most notably the omission of two groups of players.

Scottish Rugby’s Contracted Academy players, who are aligned to either Edinburgh Rugby or Glasgow Warriors, will not attend to ensure the integrity of their club’s COVID-19 secure bubble is protected. Secondly, any player living out with Scotland and part of the Scottish Qualified programme, will not attend to comply with current Scottish and UK Government travel restrictions.

Scotland U20 Head Coach, Sean Lineen said: “The camp provides a valuable opportunity for this group of players and coaches to come together for the first time. Although the Scottish Qualified and Contracted Academy players who are with pro teams are not able to be with us, it means that a number of players get the chance to come into the squad for this camp.”

Scotland U20s have been granted elite sport dispensation from the Scottish Government to prepare for an intended U20 Six Nations next year as a national representative team.

The group will follow strict social distancing protocols and coronavirus testing procedures will be in place in advance of any contact work.
