Scotland v South Africa
A jewel of a fixture, against the reigning world champion Springboks, who last year successfully defended a title they won in Japan in 2019 with a thrilling defeat of the much-fancied All Blacks in Paris.

The challenge doesn’t get much bigger than facing the Springboks, the only team to win the Rugby World Cup four times. Stacked with household names like Siya Kolisi, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Faf de Klerk and Cheslin Kolbe, South Africa will travel to Scottish Gas Murrayfield aiming to protect an eight-match winning streak against Scotland, which includes last year’s 18-3 Rugby World Cup Pool B victory in Marseille.

Scotland’s last success against the Springboks came in 2010, when stand-off Dan Parks landed a perfect six penalties from six, and a drop goal for good measure, in a 21-17 triumph.  Despite it being 14 years since that last win against South Africa, five Scots (Price, van der Merwe, Sutherland, Hogg and Watson) featured for the British & Irish Lions in their opening Test match win in against the Springboks in Cape Town in 2021.

It’s been three years since South Africa were last here, when two wonderful Stuart Hogg tries equalled Scotland Men’s try-scoring record, although such heroics weren’t enough to help the side to victory. A huge game in prospect this November!
