The event recognised and celebrated playing and coaching achievements at all levels of the game in Scotland from the International team to youth and schools. Scotland Women and RHC back, Tanya Griffith, scooped the Scotland Womens Player of the Season award whilst Donna Kennedy was given the Special Recognition Award for her commitment and dedication to her country. Kennedy continued to dominate the global womens game as she won her 100th cap for Scotland in the final RBS 6 Nations clash of the 2006/07 season. Scottish Rugby President, Andy Irvine, said: Our extended rugby family does not often get the chance to come together and celebrate all that is good in our sport. Tonight has been one of those special occasions and my hearty congratulations go to all those award winners here this evening. Each accolade is as important as the next as every part of our game relies upon the other for its continued success, whether its grassroots, elite, refereeing or volunteering, everyone has a part to play in rugby. The evening, was hosted by the BBCs Jill Douglas, and saw 400 guests celebrate the sport. Raffle proceeds and donations from the evening are to be donated to the Wooden Spoon charity for injured rugby players.
