Scotland women under-20 trials set for Murrayfield

Scotland Women under-20 head coach Alexander Laybourne will host an open trial at Murrayfield on Saturday 26 October. For prospective players aged between 17 and 20, it follows on from the successful senior open trial that was held on 1 September and attracted 75 players.The day is an important starting point for the new international season and Laybourne believes that it presents an exciting opportunity for coaches and players.He said: “The aim is to make sure that we get as broad a reach as possible and that everybody gets a chance.”It’s an exciting time for Scottish women’s rugby and Saturday will give us an idea of what our squads will look like and will be of great benefit in terms of development.”All players wishing to trial for the Scotland Women under-20 squad must be within the following age-banding:Born between 1 September 1993 and 31 August 1995 (player aged 18-20)Born between 1 September 1995 and 31 August 1996 (player aged 17-18)If a player is aged 17, they will require dispensation to play senior rugby which must be actioned by the player’s club coach.  A follow-up assessment will be made by the Scotland Women under-20 head coach on the player’s suitability to play international senior rugby.Registration forms are still available for those interested in attending the trial.
