Scotland’s women were beaten 23-6 by a solid Welsh performance in the international at Taff’s Wells this afternoon. Scotland’s points came from the boot of Sarah Gill who kicked penalties on either side of the 40 minute mark. Scotland’s last encounter with Wales saw them lose 10-0 in Dunbar. It was always going to be difficult coming down to Wales, they are a very strong team acknowledged the Scots’ coach, Lee Adamson. Scotland went in at half time 10-3 down but started the second half well with good positional play and pressure, a converted penalty from Gill bringing the visitors to within four points. As the half wore on Scotland were unable to improve on the scoreboard, Adamson reflecting: We were unable to sustain long periods of pressure on the Welsh, their fly half kicking well, keeping us in our own half. He went on: There’s lots of learning to be done from both our games to date. Looking forward to the next international with Ireland in two weeks’ time Adamson hopes that that result will correspond with the effort put in by his team. We look forward to the game with Ireland and hopefully the game will bring us what we deserve in terms of how much work the squad are putting in, he added.
