Scottish Rugby Appoints New Head Of Commercial
Scottish Rugby has appointed a new Head of Commercial, responsible for growing its sponsorship monies and boosting its pro teams’ revenues. Nathan Bombrys will join the governing body for the game in Scotland early in the New Year. He was previously Commercial and Marketing Director at Aviva Premiership club, Sale Sharks, where he oversaw a significant growth in commercial revenue in the past seven years.Captain of his university rugby club while he studied in New York, Bombrys has played the game for 17 years and is also a level 1 referee. He has previously worked in both Edinburgh and Glasgow in marketing and sponsorship consultancy. Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive, Gordon McKie, said: “We are delighted that Nathan is joining Scottish Rugby and will be heading up our commercial team.”Clearly we operate in a challenging economic climate but we have seen the strength of Scottish Rugby with our ability to forge new and dynamic partnerships with some major blue-chip companies such as RBS, Guinness and EMC in the past year.”Nathan will manage our relationship with our valuable partners and look to bring on board new commercial relationships for the benefit of the game throughout the country.”
