Super Rugby At The Gytes
31 Mar 2011
A feast of tries was served up at the penultimate radio Borders Border League Match of the season at the Gytes on Tuesday night (the Final between Melrose and tba is scheduled to take place on 13 April at the Gytes) as Peebles outscored Jed-Forest by 8 tries to 7. The game was played at awesome pace, with referee David Changleng keeping the game flowing like Super Rugby. There were unusual faces in some of the Peebles jerseys as late fitness tests dropped Drew Moore and David Paton from the lineout. A reshuffled back line saw, Donald Anderson at scrum half, David McLean at stand off and a reshuffled back row saw Allan Warnock at No 8Jed had the early pressure and took the 7 points from a converted try in 2 minutes. The lead changed hands another 4 times until a Donald Anderson penalty brought the half time score to 24 points all.The second half started in the same vein, but this time Peebles got the early tries and retained the lead to the final whistle, winning 53 to 39.Peebles still have a postponed Border League fixture at Mansefield Park to go, details on web site when available, but concentration now turns to the Kings of the Sevens with Peebles meeting old adversaries Watsonians in the penultimate tie at Gala. The draw for the Peebles Sevens sponsored by Tweed Financial Services and First XV rugbystuff.com, takes place live on radio Borders’ Sports Program tonight at 6 PM.Peebles: Tries Dale Clancy 2, David McLean 2, David Anderson 2, Kenny Clyde and Connor Blyth one apiece. 1 Andrew Brown 11 Connor Blyth2 Matt Carryer 12 Adam Moffat 3 Adam Clark 13 Dale Clancy 4 Andrew Brown 14 Dale Clancy 5 Steve Irvine 15 Martin Thomson 6 Kenny Clyde 16 Rhys Wilson 7 Dalton Hall 17 Neil Clark 8 Alan Warnock 18 Rhys Wilson 9 Donald Anderson 19 Graham Hogarth 10 Dave McLean 20
