Super6 Pro-Alignment Fixture details confirmed
Scottish Rugby has confirmed a fixture to allow the best FOSROC Super6 players to combine under their respective Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby team banners, as part of the competition’s previously announced playing calendar.
The team representing Edinburgh Rugby will be selected by the coaching team of Fergus Pringle (Watsonians), Andrew Kelly (Heriot’s Rugby) and Bruce Ruthven (Southern Knights).
Their west coast counterparts will be selected by their coaching group of Pete Horne (Ayrshire Bulls), Ben Cairns (Stirling County) and Graham Shiel (Boroughmuir Bears).
The game will provide a closer alignment for those players who have performed well in the FOSROC Super6 Sprint Series and be a competitive opportunity for them to play and reinforce the connection the clubs and players have to their respective Scottish professional teams.
The Super6 Pro-Alignment Fixture will take place on Saturday 18 June (kick-off 1.30pm), and broadcast live on the Scottish Rugby website with commentary from Paul Mitchell and Dale Clancy.
The match will be hosted at Millbrae, home of the Ayrshire Bulls who were crowned 2021 FOSROC Super6 Champions.
FOSROC Super6 Tournament Director Grant McKelvey said: “The alignment fixture is planned and prioritised around recognising and rewarding outstanding individual performances through the FOSROC Super6 Sprint Series.
“The six FOSROC Super6 Head Coaches themselves have driven this request, it gives another high-quality and intensive opportunity for the best Super6 players from each group of aligned teams to promote themselves in another unique high-performance environment.
“All Super6 Head Coaches will be involved in selecting and coaching their respective squads and we must thank Ayrshire Bulls for agreeing to host. We look forward to seeing how this new initiative could grow and develop as we progress.”
