Tagive added to Scotland squad
Head Coach Gregor Townsend has updated the Scotland squad for the forthcoming autumn international matches.
Glasgow Warriors wing Ratu Tagive joined the squad on Monday ahead of the Guinness Six Nations final round match against Wales in Llanelli on Saturday 31 October.
Winger Sean Maitland (Covid protocols) will not return to the squad this week and is therefore unavailable for selection. Fellow winger Damien Hoyland (ankle injury) will also not return to the group for this series of matches and has received treatment at Spire Murrayfield.
Hooker Ewan Ashman has returned to Sale after training with the squad ahead of the Georgia fixture last Friday and Edinburgh lock Grant Gilchrist will also not play during the Autumn internationals after sustaining a groin injury earlier in the Scotland camp.
Matt Fagerson suffered an ankle injury in the Georgia match and will stay with Scotland under the supervision of the medical team.
Exeter players Stuart Hogg, Jonny Gray and Sam Skinner joined up with the Scotland squad today (Monday) after their double winning season with the Chiefs, which concluded with the Gallagher Premiership Final win on Saturday.
Head Coach Gregor Townsend said: “We welcome four players this week as we embark on our preparation for our final Guinness Six Nations match against Wales. Ratu was unlucky to have missed out a couple of weeks ago, picking up an injury on the weekend we selected our training squad. It’s great to have him with us now in addition to our three Exeter Chiefs – Jonny, Sam and Stuart.
“We are working hard to ensure our training camp remains secure in terms of Covid protocols and as such Sean’s actions last week with the Barbarians mean that he won’t be able to re-join our group now and we will review the situation in the coming weeks.’
