It also ended his chances of featuring in the World Rugby U20 Championship that year, but he returned for the 2026 U20 Six Nations.

His mother Dawn played for the Scottish Students side in the 1994 Rugby World Cup, and his grandfather Michael Barrie won a Scotland A cap.
