Oliver Finlayson-Russell is a former Edinburgh Academical RFC youth player.
He also played for Edinburgh Academy, and was part of an U18 team, alongside fellow U20 back row Oliver Duncan, that played in the 2022/23 Schools Cup final at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
Finlayson-Russell is a rugby scholar at St Andrews University, where he studies Management.
He featured for Scotland U20 in two friendlies against Wales U20 in December 2024, and was selected for the 2025 U20 Six Nations.
