He then missed out on selection for the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship, but not only won his place back in 2026, but was named captain ahead of the 2026 Six Nations.

Starting his rugby journey at West Linton Lions, Wolfenden represented Peebles for both the rugby club and high school. He also represented Southern Knights in Super Series, and represented Scotland U18 before graduating to U20.
