Scotland Women U18
Scottish Rugby launched the Scottish Futures U18 programme in 2018 and after three successful seasons, has now transitioned into the Scotland U18 programme.
Players in the Scotland Women U18 programme have been selected via the Girls Regional Game Series and the Scottish Qualified programme.
The Series, which is now in its third year of operation, aligns with the Women’s & Girls’ Strategy and has been developed collaboratively by Scottish Rugby’s Rugby Development and High Performance departments.
Players who have previously participated in the RGS include Scotland Women U18 cap, Poppy Mellanby and Scotland Women U20 caps, Holland Bogan and Emily Coubrough, all of whom are currently playing in the Celtic Challenge with Glasgow Warriors.
U18 Six Nations Festival
The U18 Six Nations Festival is an annual rugby tournament featuring the under-18 teams from the Six Nations countries: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales. It serves as a key development platform for young rugby players, providing them with international experience and preparing them for higher levels of competition.
Teams will play four 35 minutes matches and one 70 minute match on the final day of the festival.
Summer Development Festival
In 2024, Scotland participated in a Summer Development Festival in Wales, competing against sides from USA, Netherlands and Wales. All four teams played a festival day of adapted 30-minute games before taking part in a 70-minute match.
