Scottish Rugby looks forward to welcoming supporters to Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Saturday 20 July for Manchester United vs Rangers.

The game kicks off at 4pm and we hope you find the information below useful in planning your day.

Ticketing

  • How can I purchase tickets?

    Tickets can be purchased online through Ticketmaster or Ticketek at:

  • Is there a ticket limit?

    There is a ticket limit of 6 per transaction

     

  • I’ve seen tickets advertised on other sites – can I still order from there?

    We would strongly advise against using any sites other than those listed on our adverts and websites.  These are the only sites we can guarantee have 100% genuine tickets. Consider the notes below before purchasing your tickets: 

    1. Only buy from the outlets listed on the match advertising.
    2. Find out the face value of the tickets and how much you are paying in booking fees.
    3. Find out the location of your seats.
    4. Never buy from an agent who says the tickets will be available to collect outside the Ticket Office.

    It is against the ticketing terms and conditions to sell your tickets to any other person. 

    Tickets will be cancelled without a refund in the event tickets are transferred in contraventions of the ticketing terms and conditions. 

  • How will I receive my tickets?

    Please refer to the booking confirmation from the Ticket Agent you purchased your tickets from. Tickets for this event are digital and will be issued as mobile tickets (Ticketmaster) or print at home / download to wallet (Ticketek) 

  • Are there any age restrictions?

    The venue operates a ‘babes in arms’ policy, meaning children under the age of two (2) will be admitted to the stadium for matches free of charge if they are accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket for the same match. They do not require a ticket permitted they sit on a parent/guardian’s knee during the game. Children aged two (2) or over must have a valid ticket and be accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket for the same Match.

Stadium Facilities

Security

  • What security procedures will be in place at the event?

    The safety around our events is of paramount importance; in order to achieve that there will be the following security procedures in place:

    • Bag size restrictions will be in place (no larger than A4 size unless for medical/childcare reasons) 
    • 100% bag searches of permitted bags.  
    • Pat-down searches using security wands. 

     

    Customers entering the stadium via turnstiles will be subject to a metal detection wand scan. Anyone declaring that they cannot be scanned in this way due to medical implants or other reasons will be referred to a stewarding supervisor who will deal with issues on a case-by-case basis, using discretion. 

    The following items will not be permitted to the stadium, subject to stated exceptions;  

    BAGS LARGER THAN A4 (30cm x 21cm) – Unless for Medical or Childcare. Any larger bags will be directed to designated search lanes where they will be searched and tagged before entry. Large bags which are clearly not for medical / childcare reasons will be rejected and patrons directed to find a safe place for storage (cars/bag drop facilities in the city etc). All bags no matter the size, will be searched prior to entry. 

    PATRONS ARE ADVISED WHERE POSSIBLE NOT TO BRING BAGS TO THE STADIUM AS THE SEARCH PROCESS CAN TEND TO SLOW DOWN ENTRY 

    NOTE – Scottish Gas Murrayfield does NOT have bag drop facilities so patrons with larger bags require to take them away and deposit them in a safe place before entering the stadium. 

    KNIVES, WEAPONS, DANGEROUS OR HAZARDOUS ITEMS (including weapons carried as an element of national or religious dress) – If found customers will be refused entry and Police contacted immediately – possession may constitute a criminal offence. 

    FOOD OR ALCOHOLNOTE – it is a criminal offence and a Police matter if any person enters or attempts to enter a designated sports ground while drunk or in possession of alcohol. 

    BOTTLES, FLASKS, OR OTHER CONTAINERS OF ANY KIND OR SIZE (only exceptions are medicines required by customers for consumption during the match – turnstile supervisors will seek guidance before entry is permitted) 

    FIREWORKS, FLARES, SMOKE BOMBS OR ANY OITHER KIND OF PYROTECHNIC ITEMIf found customers will be refused entry and Police contacted immediately – possession may constitute a criminal offence. 

    BANNERS OR FLAGS WITH SLOGANS WHICH ARE OFFENSIVE, ABUSIVE OR OF A RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC, POLITICAL, COMMERCIAL OR DISCRIMINATORY NATURE AND IN ANY CASE BANNERS LARGER THAN 11 INCHES BY 17 INCHES
    Entry will be refused until guidance is provided by match control 

    MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, AIR HORNS, PARTY POPPERS OR SILLY STRING 

    LASER POINTERS OR FLASHLIGHTS. 

    ANIMALS except guide dogs or assistance dogs 

    UMBRELLAS OF ANY SIZE 

    CAMERAS THAT DO NOT FIT COMFORTABLY IN THE POCKET/HANDBAGNOTE any form of professional photography equipment will not be permitted – Scottish Rugby reserves the right to refuse any such equipment if it is assessed to be associated with commercial interest.

    TRIPODS, SELFIE STICKS

Access Requirements

Transport

  • Will there be parking available on the day of the event at the Stadium for the public? 

    There is no public parking available at the stadium. For questions regarding accessible parking, please visit the Access Requirements section.

  • Where can I get dropped off and picked up by a car? 

    Due to the many road closures around the stadium for the event there are no drop off/pick up areas at the stadium.   

    There are designated drop off points on the surrounding roads – these are highlighted by signs. 

  • How do I get to and from Scottish Gas Murrayfield? 

    GETTING TO SCOTTISH GAS MURRAYFIELD 

    Scottish Gas Murrayfield is located to the west of Edinburgh and is well served by public transport and is only a 45-minute walk from the city centre.  

    Plan your journey and know your travel options by checking your travel providers website for all of the latest information ahead of your day. Check with your travel provider for any changes to services as well as details of the last service of the evening.  

    Please check the maps in the Stadium Facilities section to ensure you arrive at the correct turnstile entrance.  

    By Train 

    Buy tickets in advance either at staffed stations, by phone (0344 811 0141) or at scotrail.co.uk. Plan ahead and ensure you check your travel providers website for any updates ahead of travel.  

    By Tram 

    Edinburgh’s tram line runs from Edinburgh Airport into the city centre and there’s a stop at Murrayfield, exit from which takes you onto Roseburn Street.  

    Please note tickets must be purchased prior to boarding trams. You can either use the ticket vending machines at trams stops or pre-purchase tickets on the Transport for Edinburgh App. To find out more and to pre-purchase your tram tickets visit edinburghticket.com. 

    By Bus 

    Lothian Buses run several routes throughout the city that service Scottish Gas Murrayfield. All Lothian buses accept contactless payments or you can download the Lothian Bus mobile app to help plan your travel to the game. Visit lothianbuses.com and use their journey planner ahead of travel for specific information regarding routes on match day. 

    On Foot 

    East Stand, South Stand and West Stand (Sections W1-W27) via: 

    Scottish Gas Murrayfield is approximately a 45-minute walk from Edinburgh city centre. From Princes Street head to Shandwick Place, which leads on to Atholl Place, then onto Haymarket Terrace. Continue and turn left onto Roseburn Street, accessing through Roseburn Crescent, Roseburn Street or South-West Turnstiles 

    North Stand and West Stand (Sections W29-W44) via:

    Scottish Gas Murrayfield is approximately a 45-minute walk from Edinburgh city centre. From Princes Street head to Shandwick Place, which leads on to Atholl Place, then onto Haymarket Terrace. Continue and turn left onto Riversdale Crescent at the Murrayfield Bar, accessing through the North Turnstiles.

    By Car 

    Please note there is no parking available in the streets around the stadium on event days. Please visit the Edinburgh Council for any planned road closures. [https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/edintravel]

The stadium is situated in a residential area and Scottish Rugby asks you to please be mindful and respectful of local residents and their property when entering and leaving the ground. Please do not take any drinks with you when you leave, and please dispose of your rubbish in the bins provided.
